NexusLabs aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of water, energy, and food use in Mediterranean irrigated agriculture by providing stakeholders with a comprehensive package of innovative solutions. These solutions will be tested and demonstrated in real-world Living Labs and integrated into novel, holistic tools for scenario analysis and impact assessment, fully addressing the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus. In parallel, the project will implement targeted training and market preparation strategies to enable scaling across broader regions and user communities.
In the NexusLabs project, DReVen undertakes the development and implementation of an advanced weather forecasting system, aiming to improve agricultural decision-making.
It also develops the NexusLabs Observatory, a sophisticated Decision Support System (DSS) that includes interactive components such as dashboards and web-GIS maps. Concurrently, it is responsible for the implementation of the NexusLabs Serious Game. Its contribution further extends to the application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the entire food chain, alongside participation in the Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and multi-criteria assessment. Finally, it offers a significant contribution to shaping the project’s exploitation strategy and plan.
